Have you heard about picture talk activities for Spanish class? I am obsessed with them because they are so easy (VERY low prep) and can be as short or as long as you need them to be. Curious how I set mine up? Check out this post for how I lesson plan picture talks. Ready to try one out? Keep reading about this picture talk freebie for reviewing high frequency verbs and school vocabulary.
Step one:
After you pick the image, decide which high frequency words you want to target. For my class, I focus on these:
- Le gusta
- Clase de arte
- Estudiar
- Estudiantes
- Profesor(a)
- Es
- Hay
Step two:
Project the painting in class and discuss it with your students. I include a ton of questions that circle the high frequency verbs for you to use/get you thinking.
Step three:
Do a follow up activity to check for comprehension. Here are some of my favorites:
- Write & Discuss whole class activity
- Preguntas personales (Example- ¿Prefieres cuando hace frío o calor?)
- Write a short story or paragraph describing the painting.
Ready to try a picture talk with your class? Drop me your name and personal email and I’ll send you a copy. This picture talk freebie focuses on school vocabulary and the high frequency verbs es, le gusta, and hay.
