So you’re thinking about having your students do a presentational speaking activity in your Spanish class. But you don’t have time for every single student to present live in class. What do you do?
I used to get so stressed out trying to cram in student presentations in one class period. Then came distance learning and I needed to do some serious investigation on apps and websites that could help with this problem. Read on to learn my top 5 ways of having students do presentational speaking using technology.
1. Electronic Device with a Camera
Do your students have access to a phone, iPad, or laptop with a camera and microphone? Even if they don’t have access to these tools at home, try it out at school! Take them to the computer lab or hand out a device to each student. They can even record at the same time and save their work digitally.
2. Flipgrid
This was my favorite discovery during distance learning. Flipgrid is free and so easy to use. The teacher can post a prompt- either written or video. Then students record their responses. The best part!… their classmates can see their videos and respond!
3. iMovie
Students can make simple or complex videos using iMovie. The trailer option is a great way for students to make a short video that looks more professional. It limits the amount of time they have so they’re forced to be concise with their communication.
4. Youtube
Did you know that you can create a private teacher YouTube channel?
5. Padlet
Padlet works like a digital cork board. I absolutely love using Padlet because all of my students can post their work in one space and then respond to their classmates.
These 5 E-resources really helped me to up my digital game and get my students working on their presentational speaking skills. They’re so easy and free to use. Have you tried any of these yet? Drop me a DM on Instagram or Facebook and tell me about your experience. I love connecting with other language teachers.
