So you’ve figured out the interpersonal writing skill and your students have a good handle on it. And your students have written some exchanges in the interpersonal style. Awesome! But you’re a super busy teacher and are looking for ways to assess them in both interpersonal and presentational modes. Well I’m going to let you in on my little secret… and it is NO prep. Seriously.
Here are my 3 steps…
First I give them an interpersonal writing activity where they respond from their perspective to a letter written in Spanish. Then I have them swap papers with a partner. They read their classmate’s response and get to learn a little more about one of their peers. Finally I have them either write a paragraph about their classmate or give an oral presentation telling the class about their peer. This can be done in class or via videos that they can then post to a common platform. There are many options for this including Canva, Flipgrid, YouTube, etc.
This is SUCH an easy way to formally or summatively assess your students in Spanish. It makes presentational speaking a breeze and students are engaged because they love hearing about themselves and their classmates. Try it out and let me know how it goes! Connect with me on Instagram or Facebook and tell me about your experience.
