January 10, 2024 No Comments

Non stop lesson planning for Spanish class got you drained? Are you tired of using so much of your prep time to lesson plan instead of grading or better yet, grabbing a hot cup of coffee? Let me help you destress with these 4 low or no prep activities to decrease your lesson planning and time spent away from the fun things in your life!

Picture talk

I absolutely love picture talk activities because they are so low prep, are an easy way to include culture, and give students so much input in Spanish! Just project an image and ask questions. Ready for a ZERO PREP version of these Spanish picture talk activities? Check out my favorite Picture Talk activities here. They come with the images, a ton of questions to ask the class, and comprehension activities.

3 veces Game

One of my favorite skills to practice with students is circumlocution. But I’ve found that they need a lot of modeling to get the hang of it. So I created these interactive circumlocution games. Students read “clues” to one another and have to guess the correct word. They score points based on how many guesses it takes them.

Create them yourself and use them forever 🙂 (You’ll love them that much. Here’s a freebie to get you started). Or take the shortcut and check out these premade ones.

Short stories

Have you heard how many times students need to hear/see words in Spanish before they “stick”? So one of my favorite ways to give them extra input is with these fun short stories! You can easily write your own or even let the class help you design the story together. How about the ZERO PREP option? My stories use lots of cognates and high frequency verbs for maximin comprehension. AND they come with pre and post-reading activities to give you a week’s worth of materials. I have stories for lots of different topics including weather, school, family, house, travel, and more! Click here to check them out..

Movie guides

When my voice and my feet need a little break, a culturally rich movie is my secret answer! My students love it and it gives us sooo much to talk about. Pick your favorite movie and come up with some quick comprehension questions. Or take the lesson planning off your plate with these ready to go Spanish class movie guides.

With so many low or no prep activities to choose from, your days spent stuck at your desk trying to think of how to mix it up in Spanish class are over! Skip lesson planning and spend your time more effectively (or enjoyably).
