Looking for a quick way to start your class on Valentine’s day? Check out this adorable advertisement from Buenos Aires about love!

You never know when and where you will find an amazing authentic resource! I stumbled across this one in the courthouse in Argentina when we traveled there last fall for my cousin in-law’s wedding. It is simple but thought provoking!
You can use this wonderful authentic resource as a very quick warm up, or stretch it out to get your students speaking and writing too! Keep reading to find out how.

Even in Spanish 1, your students will be able to decipher “el Amor nos conecta a todos.” Start by discussing what the slogan means, then have your students create a list of ways love connects us. Hobbies, food, family, friends, and activities are all basic topics they can reference.

In the upper level Spanish courses, students speak in small groups to brainstorm these connections. Then, each group can present their ideas orally. Meanwhile, the class can make a Venn diagram to compare and contrast the ideas presented by each group.

For homework, students will write a paragraph comparing and contrasting the ideas of the class.
I’m always striving to stretch my authentic resources, use them in a variety of classes, and finally to practice the skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking! I hope this sparks some creative ideas for you too!
