Wouldn’t You Love 1 Verb to Give You a Week’s Worth of Spanish Lesson Plans

Have you heard of the Super 7 verbs? They are fundamental at building the skills your students need to effectively communicate in Spanish. Once I realized just how much my students could communicate with just these 7 verbs, I knew I had to spend more time with them. So I created a week’s worth of activities for each of these high frequency verbs. Curious what types of activities I include to make sure my students master the Super 7 verbs? Read on for an example using gustar!

Day 1: Introduce the verb gustar

•Introduce the students to gustar using the PowerPoint.

•After the PowerPoint, students complete the guided notes sheet on gustar to have as a quick reference.

•Students complete the 2 practice handouts in the PowerPoint either individually or in pairs.

Day 2: Input activities & games

•Students work on the matching activities for essential vocabulary, the read & draw worksheets, and the 2 worksheets where they write sentences using gusta based on he pictures.

Game Matamoscas. Play in small groups or as a whole class.

Day 3: More games & practice speaking

Game Simon dice

Speaking task cards using gustar. You can project the essential vocabulary on the board while they talk as a quick reference.

Day 4: More games, review speaking, and running dictations

Game Let the class vote if they would rather play Matamoscas or Simón dice. Another option is to play Matamoscas again but if they played in small groups last time, this time they play as a whole class.
