Valentine’s day is the perfect time to decorate your classroom & talk about colors vocabulary in Spanish. But honestly, what teacher has the time or energy to do all that decorating? Not this tired teacher. Until I discovered the trick of getting my Spanish students to practice their colors while also helping me decorate (sweet! 2 for 1). Curious what this adorable and simple craft looks like? Read on!
Step 1:
Print the hearts in black and white.
Step 2:
Pass them out to your students. You can give them each every color, or divide the colors up among your students depending on how much time you have.
Step 3:
Students cut and color. Encourage them to be creative and include drawings of things that are typically that color. For example, hearts for rojo, suns for amarillo, and waves for azul.
Step 4:
Decorate! Tape them to your classroom door, pin them to a bulletin board, or hole punch them and string them from the ceiling. Running short on time? Print the color version, students cut, then decorate your classroom!
I love this Valentine’s day craft for Spanish colors vocabulary because it helps to reinforce the vocabulary and students can quickly and easily reference it in my classroom. Interested? Check out this cute craft using Spanish colors here.
