5 Creative Ways to Use AI as a Spanish Teacher

January 17, 2024 No Comments

Wouldn’t you love to use AI tools to simplify your lesson planning for Spanish class? Imagine how much time you’d save! No more planning at night or on the weekends. Woo hoo! Ready to get creative when using AI in your Spanish class? Read on to find out 5 of my favorite ways to incorporate AI tools in my classroom.

5 Creative Ways to Use AI for Spanish Class:

1. Ask your students to write a paragraph relating to the topic you’re studying (family, food, school, culture, etc). Then use an AI tool to generate a picture of what they described. There are tons of image generator tools out there to pick from: Dale, Canva, Hotpot AI, etc). Once your students have their images you can do so much!

Option one- Debate in class in Spanish if the pictures match what the students envisioned.

Option two– Hang the pictures around the classroom and have them visit each one and identify what they see.

Option three- Use the images as part of an assessment.

2. Create a story as a class and have AI generate the images to illustrate your story. Your students can ask the AI to make the image a cartoon, an oil painting, a photograph, pixel art, etc. Then, make it a contest and the students can vote on their favorite pictures.

3. Use the Brisk chrome extension to give feedback on writing assignments or to change the reading level on news articles.

4. Let chatGPT create a rubric for you! Print the rubrics double sided. Before the students submit their work, let them grade themselves. Then you grade them.

5. Use an image generator to create a scene. Then, use this picture for an assessment. Ask your students to describe what they see in writing or speaking. Below are 2 examples of images I made in seconds. Your students can compare/contrast these two classrooms as part of their assessment.

I hope these 5 ideas for using AI in your Spanish class sparked some creative thoughts for you. Want to stay up to date with all my latest teaching tricks/ideas? Follow me on Facebook or Instagram.
