A Traveling FVR Library is Possible?

August 17, 2022 No Comments

Have you taught in a variety of classrooms? All in the same day? Yup, me too. As language teachers we often travel from room to room. So it makes me sigh when I see beautiful pictures of classroom libraries on social media and Pinterest. I would LOVE to have a little reading corner, but it is never going to happen. So I had to get creative. Read on to learn how I created a traveling library to facilitate FVR.

Step 1

Get binders and page protectors.

Step 2

Place your reading materials in the page protectors. This is why I love short stories! They’re so easy to slip into the protectors.

Step 3

Place everything in the binders. When you get to class, open the binders, and spread out the reading materials over your desk. Students can grab their story as they walk into class. Interested how I get FVR time started? Check out this post.

Step 4 (The most important one)

When FVR is over, students should slip their story back into the page protector and then return it INTO the binder. This saves you from having to organize everything at the end of class.

Have you been nervous to start a classroom library because you don’t have your own space? Try this simple organizational method to get your library going and your students reading. Need some stories to get you started? Check these out. I have short stories on school, family, house, food, sports, daily routine, and more. Happy reading!
